WASHINGTON, D.C. – Veritas of Washington, LLC, a hospital management consulting services firm that oversees the management of the Not-for-Profit HospitalCorporation (commonly known as United Medical Center (UMC)), announces today thatUMC has received full accreditation from The Joint Commission, which oversees accreditation for 21,000 hospitals and health care organizations nationwide.
The accreditation notice was received on November 30th and was based on the unannounced survey that took place September 19-22, 2017 with a follow-up visit on November 3rd. The full accreditation is in effect from September 23, 2017 through September 23, 2020.

”The mission of The Joint Commission is: “To continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.” The unannounced full accreditation survey takes place every three years, with no advance notice to health care organizations when the survey will take place.
The survey process reviews health care organizations’ compliance with The Joint Commission standards that measure, assess and improve performance. The standards focus on essential patient care and organization functions that are vital to providing safe, high quality care. The Joint Commission standards are developed with input from health care professionals, providers, subject matter experts, scientific literature, consumers, and government agencies (including the Centers for Medicare & MedicaidServices).
