As you may have heard, big changes are coming as we approach the permanent closure of the United Medical Center. WMATA has announced that the Metrobus stop on our campus will permanently close on Monday, March 31st.
We want to emphasize that only the bus stop directly on our campus is affected. Thankfully, the two other nearby Metrobus stops will remain active, so local residents who rely on these routes won’t face major disruptions. According to WMATA, commuters can still board or exit buses at the following stops:
- Southern Ave at Forest Hills Apartments (Stop ID #3002757) [Towards Southern Ave. Station]
- Southern Ave at United Medical Center (Stop ID #1003328) [Towards Anacostia Station]
Additionally, we’re excited to let you know that our community will still have access to great healthcare services via public transportation. WMATA has confirmed that several Metrobus routes (A2, A4, A6, A7, A8, W2, and W3) will connect riders to the all-new Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center – GW Health.
We’re committed to keeping you informed during this transition. For the latest updates about our closure, be sure to stay connected with the UMC Newsroom.
