Washington, DC – United Medical Center (UMC) hosted the monthly meeting of the Anacostia Coordinating Council (ACC) in late January. The meeting was held in the UMC Conference Room.
UMC Board of Directors Chair LaRuby May, Chief Executive Officer Matthew Hamilton, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dennis Haghighat and Chief Operating Officer Andrea Gwyn welcomed several members of the ACC to the hospital.
Anacostia Coordinating Council was established in 1983 as a volunteer, membership consortium of organizations and individuals involved with the revitalization of Anacostia and its adjacent neighborhoods. The ACC remains committed to empowering its neighbors and transforming its neighborhoods for the better.
Mr. Hamilton and members of the UMC team spoke about plans for the new hospital, and reaffirmed United Medical Center’s commitment to understanding and providing for the health care needs of the residents of the District’s Wards 7 and 8 and the surrounding Maryland communities.
Mr. Hamilton said that meetings like this give UMC an even better understanding of the community and their needs. “We are dedicated to ensuring we provide quality care and services here in the hospital and also within the community,” he stated, referencing the UMC mobile health clinics and other outreach programs.
